Head of the second Atharvaveda school — preserved in Kashmir and Odisha

~1000 BCEAtharvaveda

Paippalada headed the second major school of the Atharvaveda — the Paippalada Samhita, preserved uniquely in Kashmir and Odisha. It contains hymns and passages found nowhere else in the entire Vedic corpus. His tradition survived against extraordinary historical odds.
