Vedika commentary
The first sūtra is not merely an opening line. It marks a threshold. Inquiry into Brahman begins when ordinary aims no longer fully satisfy and the seeker is prepared to ask what is ultimately real. This is disciplined inquiry, not idle curiosity. Brahma-jijñāsā is a desire to know that reshapes the whole life of study, reflection, and practice.
Vedika distinguishes the original Sanskrit, a literal rendering, and an interpretive paraphrase so that the words of the text are never confused with explanation.
