LEGAL

Privacy Notice

This notice explains how Vedika handles personal information when you visit askvedika.com, subscribe to updates, or use Ask Vedika.

Last updated: 25 June 2026

1. Who is responsible for your information

Vedika is operated by its founder, Umang Shankar, in the United Kingdom. For privacy questions or to exercise your data rights, email namaskar@askvedika.com with the subject line “Privacy request”.

2. Information we collect

Site and security information

Our hosting and security providers may process technical information such as IP address, browser and device details, request time, and pages requested to operate, protect, and troubleshoot the service.

Newsletter information

When you actively subscribe, we process your email address, subscription status, source of sign-up, and the record of your marketing choice so that we can send the Vedika newsletter and honour any unsubscribe request.

Ask Vedika prompts

When you use Ask Vedika, the question you submit and the limited recent chat context needed to answer it are sent to our AI service provider. Vedika does not currently offer account-based chat history or intentionally save Ask Vedika conversations in a Vedika application database.

Please do not enter personal, confidential, health, legal, financial, or other sensitive information into Ask Vedika.

Optional analytics information

Only after you choose to enable analytics, Vedika loads Vercel Analytics and, where configured, Google Analytics. These services may process information about how visitors use the site. Read the Cookie Notice for more detail.

3. Why we use information and our legal bases

  • To operate, secure, and improve Vedika: our legitimate interests in running a safe, reliable service.
  • To respond to an Ask Vedika query: to provide the service you actively request and for our legitimate interests in operating that service.
  • To send the newsletter: your consent. You can withdraw it at any time using the unsubscribe link in an email.
  • To use optional analytics: your consent, recorded through the privacy-preferences control.
  • To meet legal obligations or resolve disputes: where this is necessary to comply with applicable law or protect legal rights.

4. Who may process information

We use carefully selected service providers to run Vedika. Depending on the feature you use, these include Vercel for hosting and web analytics, Google Analytics for optional site analytics, Anthropic for Ask Vedika responses, Resend for newsletter delivery, and Sanity for content management. Providers process information only as needed to deliver their service to Vedika and under the relevant contractual and security arrangements.

Some providers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where a restricted transfer applies, we use an appropriate transfer mechanism and provider safeguards, such as adequacy regulations or contractual protections.

5. How long we keep information

  • Ask Vedika prompts are used transiently to generate a response and are not retained as a Vedika chat-history feature. Our AI provider may process them under its applicable service terms and retention settings.
  • Newsletter information is kept until you unsubscribe or we stop operating the newsletter. We may retain a minimal suppression record where necessary to make sure we do not contact you again.
  • Your privacy choice is stored in your browser until you change it or clear browser storage.
  • Security and service logs are retained only for as long as needed for security, troubleshooting, and legal obligations.
  • Optional analytics are retained according to the relevant provider settings and only for as long as necessary for measurement and service improvement.

6. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you may ask to access, correct, erase, restrict, or receive a copy of your personal information; object to processing based on legitimate interests; or withdraw consent at any time. To make a request, contact us at namaskar@askvedika.com. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office. You can find its complaints service at ico.org.uk. We would appreciate the chance to resolve a concern first.

7. Children and automated decisions

Vedika is a public research and learning platform. It is not designed to collect personal information from children. We do not knowingly use children’s information for behavioural advertising or create marketing profiles based on Ask Vedika questions or reading activity.

Vedika does not currently make decisions about you solely by automated means that have legal or similarly significant effects.

8. Updates to this notice

We may update this notice when Vedika changes or when legal requirements change. Material updates will be published on this page with a revised “Last updated” date.
