शृण्वतां स्वकथाः कृष्णः पुण्यश्रवणकीर्तनः । हृद्यन्तःस्थो ह्यभद्राणि विधुनोति सुहृत्सताम् ॥
śṛṇvatāṃ sva-kathāḥ kṛṣṇaḥ puṇya-śravaṇa-kīrtanaḥ | hṛdy antaḥ-stho hy abhadrāṇi vidhunoti suhṛt satām ||

Vedika commentary
This verse speaks from a specifically Krishna-bhakti theology. Hearing sacred narrative is not presented as passive consumption but as receptive participation in śravaṇa and kīrtana. The cleansing of abhadrāṇi refers to what obstructs clarity and devotion within the heart. The process is relational: Krishna is described as dwelling within and as the friend of the sincere. The teaching should therefore remain devotional, rather than being reduced to a generic claim that any uplifting content automatically purifies.
