Giant brother of Rāvaṇa. Loyal to a brother he knows is in the wrong.

Kumbhakarṇa is Rāvaṇa's brother, a giant whom Brahmā's curse keeps asleep for months at a time. He has a sharper mind than his appetite suggests: he tells Rāvaṇa that taking Sītā by force was a mistake, then promises to fight regardless. He kills many vānaras before Rāma's arrows end him.
