Charioteer of Indra. Indra sends his own charioteer only for the final duel.

Mātali serves Indra as charioteer. When Rāma stands on foot against Rāvaṇa in his chariot, Indra sends Mātali with a heavenly car and weapons. He steers the car through the whole duel, and when Rāma's arrows seem to make no difference, it is Mātali who speaks.
