Sugrīva
Exiled vānara king. He forgets his promise during the rains, and Lakṣmaṇa comes to Kiṣkindhā in anger.

Sugrīva is Vāli's younger brother. Believing Vāli dead in a cave, he took the throne, and Vāli drove him out and seized his wife Rumā. The pact with Rāma is a bargain: Vāli must die, and the search can begin. When autumn comes Sugrīva is slow to keep his promise, and Lakṣmaṇa has to come and remind him.
