Vibhīṣaṇa
Brother of Rāvaṇa who chose dharma. Rāma accepts him over his allies' objections, with a vow of refuge to all who ask.

Vibhīṣaṇa is Rāvaṇa's younger brother. He advises Rāvaṇa to return Sītā and is insulted for it in the assembly. Sugrīva and others doubt him when he arrives, but Rāma gives him refuge and later makes him king of Laṅkā. Vibhīṣaṇa helps Lakṣmaṇa against his own nephew Indrajit and performs Rāvaṇa's funeral.
