“One should uplift oneself by oneself; one should not lower oneself. For the self alone is the friend of oneself, and the self alone is the enemy of oneself.”
Vedika source-faithful rendering checked against Bhagavad Gita 6.5 Sanskrit; not a quoted published translation.
“The Gita places responsibility in the seeker's hands: disciplined mind as friend, undisciplined mind as obstacle.”
Let a person uplift oneself by oneself. Bhagavad Gita 6.5
Vedika commentary
Vedika should present this as sober empowerment, not harsh self-blame. The verse calls for responsibility joined with practice.
Vedika distinguishes the original Sanskrit, a literal rendering, and an interpretive paraphrase so that the words of the text are never confused with explanation.
