Scriptural verse

तृणादपि सुनीचेन तरोरपि सहिष्णुना । अमानिना मानदेन कीर्तनीयः सदा हरिः ॥

tṛṇād api sunīcena taror api sahiṣṇunā | amāninā mānadena kīrtanīyaḥ sadā hariḥ ||

Literal translation

With greater humility than grass, with forbearance like a tree, seeking no honour while giving honour to others, Hari is to be praised continually.

Vedika source-faithful rendering checked against Śrī Caitanya’s Śikṣāṣṭaka 3; not a quoted published translation.

Vedika paraphrase

Śrī Caitanya joins humility, forbearance and respect for others to the ability to remember and praise Hari continually.

With humility greater than grass, forbearance like a tree, seeking no honour while honouring others, Hari is to be praised continually. Śrī Śikṣāṣṭaka 3

Vedika commentary

The verse turns humility away from performance. Amāninā means not demanding honour for oneself; mānadena means actively giving honour to others. Together they reduce the egoic friction that repeatedly interrupts devotion. Forbearance does not require enabling harm or abandoning boundaries. It means refusing to let every slight become the centre of consciousness, so remembrance of Hari can remain primary.

Vedika distinguishes the original Sanskrit, a literal rendering, and an interpretive paraphrase so that the words of the text are never confused with explanation.
