स्थिरसुखमासनम् ॥ ४६॥
sthira-sukham āsanam || 46 ||
“Āsana is steady and easeful.”
Vedika literal rendering, checked against the original text
“A sound posture is neither collapse nor force. It creates enough stability for ease and enough ease for steady attention.”
Posture is steady and easeful. Patañjali Yoga Sūtra 2.46
Vedika commentary
The two words correct each other. Steadiness without ease becomes gripping; ease without steadiness becomes drift. The classical context is seated practice and preparation for subtler limbs, not a demand for athletic performance.
Vedika distinguishes the original Sanskrit, a literal rendering, and an interpretive paraphrase so that the words of the text are never confused with explanation.
