“The qualities of character beginning with non-harming, truth, purity, compassion and faith should be carefully maintained.”
Vedika literal rendering checked against editions and commentaries of the Nārada Bhakti Sūtra; āstikya is retained as faith or trust within a devotional worldview.
“Devotional feeling becomes credible when it steadily reshapes conduct.”
Nārada Bhakti Sūtra 78
Vedika commentary
Intensity of feeling is easy to display; character is revealed by repeated choices. If devotion leaves cruelty, dishonesty or indifference untouched, the gap itself becomes part of the spiritual work.
Vedika distinguishes the original Sanskrit, a literal rendering, and an interpretive paraphrase so that the words of the text are never confused with explanation.
