“Whatever the thing, and whatever its presented nature, wisdom is to see the true reality of that thing.”
Vedika close rendering checked against the Tamil text and traditional Tamil commentaries, including Parimēlaḻakar and modern scholarly renderings.
“Clear seeing separates what is present from the names, impressions and assumptions placed around it.”
Tiruvaḷḷuvar, Tirukkuṟaḷ 355
Vedika commentary
First impressions are useful but incomplete. Wisdom pauses long enough to distinguish observation from interpretation and reality from the identity, status or story projected onto it.
Vedika distinguishes the original Sanskrit, a literal rendering, and an interpretive paraphrase so that the words of the text are never confused with explanation.
