“Vedika interpretation: A promise can outlive the moment in which it was made.”
Vālmīki Rāmāyaṇa, Ayodhyā Kāṇḍa 11
Vedika commentary
Words spoken in one circumstance can shape lives much later. This scene invites care before commitment and honest attention to consequences; it does not make every promise morally binding regardless of harm.
Vedika distinguishes the original Sanskrit, a literal rendering, and an interpretive paraphrase so that the words of the text are never confused with explanation.
