Vālmīki Rāmāyaṇa, Ayodhyā Kāṇḍa 112; Ayodhyā Kāṇḍa 115
Vedika commentary
Being entrusted with power is not the same as owning what it serves. The pādukās have a devotional and royal significance; Vedika's application is accountable stewardship, not a replacement for that meaning.
Vedika distinguishes the original Sanskrit, a literal rendering, and an interpretive paraphrase so that the words of the text are never confused with explanation.
