Vedika commentary
This compact sūtra belongs to a disciplined science of Vedic interpretation. It does not define dharma merely as personal preference, social convention or whatever produces an agreeable outcome. For Mīmāṃsā, dharma concerns what should be done because the Veda enjoins it. Encountering this definition helps us see that Hindu traditions debate not only what dharma requires, but how dharma can be known.
Vedika distinguishes the original Sanskrit, a literal rendering, and an interpretive paraphrase so that the words of the text are never confused with explanation.
